To cater for all of our members, at certain times the pool is made available to different groups and ages. Please check the swimming timetable for timings.

Serious lane swimming
& Adults only

The whole pool will be laned off for adult swimming only.

General swimming

The pool will be open to all members and a single lane will normally be in use.

Fun time

Play rafts and toys will be put out in the main pool for our younger members to use.

ATG (Academy Tank Gang)

Children's swimming lessons (during these lessons half the pool will always be made available for members to lane swim lengths).

Relaxation time

Swim in the tranquil surroundings, as the lights are dimmed down, to provide you with that perfect finish to the day.

The Academy is proud to announce the arrival of 'The Academy Tank Gang', a brand new swimming scheme that follows the Amateur Swimming Association's national plan for teaching swimming. This new framework encourages instruction in a fun environment where swimmers progress and become competent, confident and safe in the water.

At The Academy our swimmers start life in 'The Tank' as little fish swimming their way through the tank, growing stronger and stronger and moving up a class each time they reach their target. Our Baby Fry and Guppies evolve into Orcas and Hammerhead sharks! Swimmers are assessed every term and are awarded the relevant ASA swimming badges and certificates on completion of each level. Class sizes are small to encourage faster progression and good relations between the swimmer, teacher and parent. Classes are held every day of the week during school term times.

Swimmers between the ages of 4 months to 3 years old are accompanied by an adult during their lesson, thereafter they swim with ASA qualified teachers who teach in the water during the early stages of progression. All our teachers are CRB checked and there is a qualified RLSS lifeguard on poolside at ALL times.

The Academy Tank Gang has a strong teaching team whose expertise can be called upon for private tuition. Our teachers are able to enhance every level of swimmer from the absolutely terrified beginner to competitive triathletes wishing to go faster!
